PhD Anna Dzierżyńska

Ph.D. in Agriculture Science, Master and Engineer of Agriculture

Senior Lecturer (since 2002)

I have longstanding experience in teaching (experimental classes and lectures) at Warsaw University of Life Sciences SGGW. I conducted extramural lectures and classes at the SGGW Teaching Centers in Biała Podlaska and Łowicz. I led classes in frame of the e-Agriculture Project and have prepared a part of the Plant Physiology lectures and a didactic film located on the e-learning platform; I reviewed some lectures on Biological Progress and Crop Yield Biology in this project.

I am the diploma supervisor for eight B.Sc. diplomas at The Agriculture and Biology Faculty.

I am the co-author of a laboratory manual for Plant Physiology classes and author of several review articles (see: SGGW Library – staff publications) which assist the education process of students.

I am currently preparing classes and lectures on new course of Plant Eco-Physiology for the study program of Ecological Engineering. I give lectures on Basics of Plant Physiology at the study program Environmental Protection, Plant Biology at the study program Landscape Architecture, Plant Biotic Stress Physiology at the Biology study program and lead classes on Plant Physiology for students of Agriculture, Biology, Biotechnology, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture.

I have given my lectures on facultative subjects: Plant Eco-Physiology and Alternatives in Agriculture – Agroforestry. I also give lectures and classes for students of Post-Graduate Studies for Teachers – Nature and Biology programs. I have also concluded these studies and obtained a diploma.

Scientific interests

My Ph.D. thesis dealt with the photosynthetic activity of leafy, semi-leafless and leafless morphotypes of the pea plant (Pisum sativum). Due to the very wide range of topics in my lectures and classes I am mostly interested in all aspects of productivity of plants under cultivation, the specifics of growth and development of trees, plant stress resistence and the role of light in the functioning of plants.

I have recently joined a research team studying carnivorous plants.

My non-scientific interests

Floristry is my hobby and I have a diploma from the Academy of Floristry.in bouquet arrangements
